Meaning of Failman

So… It’s been a bit. And, if you have not read these before, hello. How are you? Hope you are doing well. If you have not yet, I strongly encourage reading the posts titled “The Super Hero and Failman.” It will help you understand this particular post a little bit more. So, without further adieu, I need to get on with it. I feel the need to explain those posts from a non-dramatized, real-world view. I need to kind of put myself out there, in hopes to help others, as I try to do with any of my posts, as well as give myself a little therapy. A lot has happened, during and since that little story. To protect the innocent, what I will say is that there has been a bit of family drama in my life, and there was an event that happened, which I give a glimpse of in the first Failman post, that shook me to my core and broke me. I had a nervous breakdown. I was like a china shop that was destroyed in the worst hurricane ever known in human history. I had never felt so broken and useless. ...

The Super Hero and Failman, Part 3

Failman, not sure what to do, took a step back to get just outside of the demon’s reach, and watched what was unfolding before his eyes. The Mind’s Eye, the place where all thought occurred in this vessel, was overwhelmed with a blinding light. From that light came a being, a being that seemed to be the source of the light, as Failman could not look upon the being as the light that surrounded it was brighter than the brightest stars all combined into one. The being stepped into the Mind’s Eye, and has its feet graced the land with its presence, the whole of the land was wiped clean. All that was left was the demon, Failman, and the being of light. The being walked forward toward the demon, who was still unable to understand how this was all happening. The being stood before the demon and stared with piercing eyes at him. The demon cowered under the weight of the gaze. “You shall exist here no more,” the beaing said, his voice echoing through the expanse that was the Mind’s Eye. “Retu...

Birthdays

So today I celebrate my birthday. If you are thinking “Congratulations on another year complete,” I’d say thank you very much. If you are thinking “Why should I care,” I’d say, “Yeah, I get it, but there is a reason. Just keep reading.” I am not much for the big fanfare that some like for birthdays; I don’t do surprise parties (too sleuth-y for that), I don’t do the big parties (too poor and shy for those), and I don’t typically ask for presents either. Admittedly, I like to treat my birthday as any other day should be treated, and just do what I normally would do, unless I feel the need to take the day from work and take care of some personal business. I do try, however, to make some sport of it for my wife and daughter, especially since my wife likes her birthday and my daughter is, well, still young enough to want to have fun on her birthday. If it wasn’t for them, I would never celebrate it… Ever. If a birthday has to be good for something, other than the anniversary of the day s...

The Super Hero and Failman, Part 2

Quick apology to and English majors reading this. This is a one take, quick edit review before I post. The tour of mind palace now in the past, the once powerful Super Hero stares back at the palace into a specific window high on the wall on the northern wing of the palace. On the other side of the window, Failman stands stoically sipping on one of the Super Hero’s best casks of bourbon, staring back down at the Super Hero with disgust. He knows what he must do. He knows that in order to fully control the power of the mind palace and be able to access all of its rooms, he must destroy the Super Hero and take his essence. Failman knows, however, that to perform this deed he must be deliberate in his actions. Otherwise, the Super Hero will return, and Failman does not want that. Failman will be the master of the mind palace and bend it to his will. Below in the depths of the palace in a prison cell, the demon smiles. Failman takes a long enjoyable sip of his drink, and sets down t...

Past, Present, and Future

I came across this quote from Thomas S. Monson: "The past is behind, learn from it. The future is ahead, prepare for it. The present is here, live it." This quote got me thinking, as of course a quote is supposed to. I began to look at my own existence, and question if I have lived it's meaning, because Star War's Qui Gon Jinn said something very similar:  "Be mindful of the living force, my young padawan, but not at the expense of the moment."  Of course, there is also YOLO, which stands for You Only Live Once.  So I looked at everything and wondered if I met the requirements. What I found in my life is that I do not I spend too much time analyzing the past events that I have done. I do this so that I can discover the mistakes that I made in my childhood, that my parents made in their lives, mistakes that my friends and mentors have made, et cetera. I as I look at this, I realize that I am only meeting two parts of this. I am learning fro...

Yin yang

There was a video recently posted of a man who went to two rallies wearing a sign that said, "Free Hugs." If you haven't seen it yet on Facebook or YouTube, take a look below: So....why the different responses? What made this happen? Consider this... First of all, I am not saying anything specific about the candidates in this blog post. Well, as much as I can that is. My opinion about the candidates really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. You can request it if you are curious in the comments. With that out of the way, let us consider a few things.  The first and probably the most obvious thing to consider is that there are a ton of variables to name here. Variables like location, temperament, time of day, individual belief systems, personal histories, location histories, just to name a few. Keeping this in mind, I don't think you want to read an in depth study that would cover all of the possible social and psychological eleme...
